The version that I have of the Mary Margaret McBride Encyclopedia of Cooking was published in 1959. It has nearly 1,500 pages of recipes and advice for home cooks.
When I found it at my favorite antiques barn in New Paltz, NY, I knew that I had found a treasure. Clutching it in my arms as I carried it out of the store, I mused to a friend of mine that this might end up being my favorite new tome. SPOILER ALERT: It is.
The recipes in it are so classic and amazing. I keep turning to it time and time again, and I thought that maybe others might be interested in zeroing in on this one as well. So I present – the Mary Margaret McBride Collection!
